What A Difference….A Bulb Makes!

Which is the best light bulb for what your needs?

Choosing the right light bulb is something that many people struggle with, and understandably so, there are so many different types, but

Here we are focusing on the many different types of light bulbs that we offer so you can really see the difference that they make. We are demonstrating this using our Aspen table lamp to enable you to really see the difference.

Whether you would like a decorative light bulb or a more standard bulb, we have a lovely variety. Even if you know exactly what you like personally. One thing to keep in mind is whether or not the light bulb suits the setting and the fitting that you’ve chosen.

You’ll notice that the old-fashioned halogen bulbs are no longer as readily available as they once were. In fact, they are no longer being manufactured as they have been replaced wholly by LED light bulbs. The benefits of LED light bulbs are that they are longer lasting and more energy efficient. Which saves you money and benefits the environment.

Decorative Light Bulbs

AVRA Dimmable Pear Shaped Light Bulb

For example, decorative light bulbs, such as the one below, look incredible with their textured surface. but doesn’t give off as much light as some light bulbs can.

As you can see below, in a darkened room this wouldn’t give you enough illumination to see by, but would still be ideal if you’re just adding it to help create the right ambience for your chosen room, and would also add an eye-catching element at the same time.

A benefit of the AVRA light bulb is that it is a dimmable bulb, which works perfectly with this Aspen table lamp and many other dimmable fittings.

AVRA Square Dimmable Light Bulb

Similarly, this AVRA square light bulb gives a lovely decorative element, however wouldn’t be recommended as a reading light for example. The square cross texture helps to refract the light, helping to add sparkle and interest to the room.

This would be perfect in a fitting such as the Aspen table lamp that is featured here, or any fittings that allow the bulb to be on show. The image below demonstrates the bulb on a dimmer setting.

Globe Decorative Filament – Titanium Mirror Finish

This decorative filament light bulb demonstrates a really unique design where you can actually see a swirl-like filament, adding an intriguing aspect. As you can see below, at full brightness it doesn’t give off a large amount of illumination, however it would make an interesting statement within your home.

This light bulb is also very energy efficient and long lasting, helping to save you money and benefiting the environment.

Another benefit of this decorative filament bulb is that it is dimmable (shown in the image below), giving you more versatility. You could consider using this bulb on a cluster pendant for a dramatic effect.

LED Filament GLS Bulb – With Smoke Glass

This filament bulb gives off more illumination than the previous example although it still does not produce a high light output. This light bulb would be perfect to add a decorative element to your lighting.

Using only 4.3 watts this bulb is extremely energy efficient and is long-lasting.

When this bulb is set to a dimmer setting (shown below) you are better able to see the intriguing filament.

Rustic Filament Bulb

This rustic filament style bulb has an intriguing squirrel cage-style bulb with an LED filament and clear glass. This bulb is perfect if you want to have a decorative bulb but need to stick to a budget

A benefit of this bulb is that it’s dimmable (shown below), when teamed with a suitable fitting. It works perfectly with this Aspen table lamp where you can see the unique shape of the bulb.

Standard Light Blubs

Standard bulbs are excellently suited in rooms where you require a sufficient amount of light. Whether you need a Edison screw bulb (ES/E27), a small Edison crew bulb (SES/E14), a bayonet cap light bulb (BC/B22) or a small bayonet cap (SBC/B15) we have variations for every type of fitting.

In this post we have been focusing on E27 bulbs. As that’s what bulb is required for this Aspen table lamp, not all of the light bulbs we’re discussing are available in all fitting sizes.

The colour temperature of the bulb is another element to consider, as many people have a preference and don’t always realise how much difference it can make.

LED Clear GLS Light Bulb

This clear LED bulb allows you to clearly see the filament inside. It’s perfect if you need to stick to a budget and gives off a large amount of light. Being an LED bulb it will be long-lasting and energy efficient, saving you money and benefiting the environment.

This light bulb is perfect for areas that need a large amount of light, such as kitchens and living rooms.

Another benefit of this lamp is that it’s dimmable (when teamed with a suitable dimmer switch and fitting). Helping to create a suitable atmosphere for any setting.

LED 6 Watt Satin GLS Light Bulb

This satin GLS light bulb is very efficient using only 6 watts but providing around 810 lumens, or the equivalent of around 60 watts.

A benefit of this light bulb is the satin finish eliminates any glare from the light. Which can sometimes be the case with the clear bulb above.

This bulb is also dimmable (shown below) when teamed with a suitable dimmer switch and light fitting.

LED 18w White Opal GLS Bulb

This light bulb is perfect if you need to stick to a budget. In a warm white colour, it gives off the equivalent of around 100 standard watts, making it perfect for rooms that require a large amount of illumination.

In comparison to other light bulbs we have mentioned, this bulb is not dimmable and in a fitting such as the one we are using here, you can see the white collar around the bulb.

LED 18 Watt Warm White GLS Bulb

Similarly to the above light bulb, this also has a warm white colour temperature. However, this light bulb is dimmable, when teamed with a suitable fitting.

LED 18 Watt Cool White GLS Light Bulb

As you can see there is a pretty big difference between this cool white light bulb and the warm white above. The cool white will appear slightly more blue, and is also referred to as a daylight bulb.

This cool white light bulb is very energy efficient, however it is not dimmable.
