1. Clean, Minimalist Lines.
Clean, minimal lines are popular this year in bathroom design, giving the space a contemporary and modern feel. This trend emphasises simplicity, so choose fixtures and tiles that are timeless yet elegant. When selecting features to give your bathroom a minimalist look, opt for geometric shapes with classic finishes such as chrome, black or brass. This is still a key look, but there does seem to be a stronger leaning towards modern black lighting for ceilings and walls. Or gold brass tones a shift from chrome.

Black accents
Using black is a key colour for bathrooms bringing a solid colour statement in a monochrome look it’s a solid classic combo that never dates. Black also grounds a bold colour smartening up the overall visual look. Use black as an accent colour to keep the room feeling brighter.

Lighten the Look
Lighting is often overlooked which is a real pity as this is a key element within any interior and none more important than a bathroom. The bathroom is the place where makeup and shaving take place these everyday rituals require a focused light. The vanity area has become a focal point, with increased luxury. The preference has moved from illuminated mirror lights, instead a more decorative mirror is being sought. Dedicated wall lights either side not only look more luxe they provide a nicer more flattering light and eliminate the harsh blue or cold light of some forms of led. Warmer Led brings a nicer colour for relaxation and does feel less sterile.
We’re also seeing a rise in low-level lighting, giving a spa-like feel for bathing. This can be achieved with candles and battery lamps or by having separate lighting circuits for switching just the vanity area lights to slim at the harshness of the overhead lights whilst you soak away your troubles in the tub. You could also use switched bathroom wall lights as this would give you more control over the lights you want on.
Mirrors and Vanity Areas
The standout bathrooms this year are those with show-stopping vanity areas. Longer countertops or statement basins create that focal point. Again light it well and consider doubling up and layering mirrors. A top takeaway is a task-specific mirror, I love this trend as all too often the single mirror above the sink is just too far away to check out the details on your face, some may say this is a good thing, but, a mirror for the close up inspection is a must for folks who wear glasses.
Find lights suitable for either side of a mirror in a bathroom. Above mirror lights are also useful, opt for a longer light above the mirror to spread the light if you are replacing a current light.
2. Neutral Colors.
Neutral and earthy colours are the go-to choices for this year’s bathrooms. Neutrals such as grey, beige, white, and off-white can provide the perfect backdrop for bolder accent pieces. To further elevate the interior of your bathroom, consider layering textures and finishes, such as matte and shiny surfaces, to add more character!

3. Natural Materials.
Natural materials like wood and stone are making a big comeback in bathroom design this year. Whether it’s wooden countertops, floating shelves, stone tiles, or flooring – the use of these elements can bring a sophisticated yet organic look to any space. Consider how you can incorporate natural materials into your bathroom space to create a calming atmosphere and modernise it! Plants are being included in bathrooms too to bring a livelier feel.
4. Integrate Smart Home Technology.
A trend that many interior designers have noticed is the increasing use of smart home technology in bathroom designs. With the rise of smart toilets, showers, lighting and mirrors, bathroom designs are becoming more interconnected and intuitive. With these technologies, homeowners can conveniently control their bathrooms with a few simple taps on their phones. Smart toilet models even come with features like heated seats and adjustable night lights! That’s all a step too far for many who want a tech-free space, but I’m all in favour of smart lighting! It appears that the majority of folks have not really latched on to this trend of high tech bathrooms and instead have opted for elegant. Art deco style is gaining traction as integration ebbs.
5. Add Eco-Friendly Elements to Your Design Plan.
Led is very popular, and will remain so. With climate change becoming an increasingly pressing concern, it’s important to factor elements of sustainability into your bathroom remodelling. One way to do this is by switching out certain materials and products for ones that are more eco-friendly.
Energy consumption is on the agenda look for low-flow toilets and showerheads that use less water than traditional models, as well as low-VOC paints and LED bathroom lighting. By using these more eco-friendly and energy-efficient materials in your design plan, you can help create an environmentally friendly bathroom while staying stylish at the same time! Another factor is buying better, choosing good quality lighting that does not need replacing. A classic style that will stand the test of time.
The smell of success
Without putting too fine a point on things, bathrooms can sometimes smell less pleasing than we’d like. One of the simplest updates you can make to a bathroom is to ensure it has a lovely fragrance. Scent scapes are all the rage, scented candles and reed diffusers bring a gentle scent without the need to blast harsh air fresheners from aerosols. The trends for bathroom scents are natural sea salt, moss, etc less artificial and more organic. We hope this guide helps to influence your bathroom designs.
In summary, the trends for bathroom lighting have evolved Black bathroom lights is still trending, gold and brass are popular. The vanity unit is key to a luxury feel in a bathroom. Art deco is preferred over smart lighting. But the most important shift is people are looking to invest in luxury for bathroom light as they want to fit lights they will love for a long time and that the quality is good and not too high tech.
