What are LEDs and how can they save you money?

LED is short for Light Emitting Diodes and they are designed to use small amounts of electricity which excite the diodes and make them glow brightly, producing light. They therefore require less energy to produce the same amount of light as traditional bulbs and this reduced amount of electricity means that it is cheaper for you to have your lights on!

How much cheaper I hear you ask? Well, it’s actually a typical saving of up to 90% compared to the standard tungsten filament bulbs. In addition, a couple of other benefits that LED bulbs offer, is that they are cool to the touch and much longer lasting – they last for years!

A simple equation based on averages, is that whilst an LED bulb may cost around five or six the amount to purchase, they will last around ten times longer! In addition, they will also save you around 90% on the cost of your lighting bills and with the escalating energy prices we have seen over recent years set to continue, this will be an on-going saving that you will enjoy recouping month after month for the length of your new long lasting bulbs. This is especially useful for bars, restaurants and other settings where the lights are on for long lengths of time.

So why not make the switch to LED’s now and start saving?
