Statement soft furnishings can be the perfect final touch to your home decor, adding a touch of luxurious comfort and personal style. From playful patterns to fluffy throws, learn more about statement soft furnishings and explore seven of the best stylish options to spruce up your space.
1. Throw Blankets and Pillows.
Throw blankets and pillows are great statement soft furnishings that can instantly transform any room. Look for cosy textures, along with interesting colours, shapes, and patterns to find the ideal look for your home. Plush throws and stylish accent pillows help create an inviting atmosphere and also provide a comfortable seating area.
The best cushions are those that bring more than comfort, they make a style statement that sets off the decor. We adore the bold brush strokes of our latest collection. The vibrancy of these floral studies by Somerset artist Marie Burke and her confident use of colour has stolen our hearts.
Hot fuchsia pink combined with deep moss green contrasts fabulously. Team the cushions with a throw from this signature collection or choose a contrasting throw in a planer colour either way it’s a look that will make a great impact within a space
If pinks are not your thing what about the bright sunny style, from the same artist the sunshine yellow depicting large-scale sunflowers adds a punch of colour that seems to uplift your very soul.
Local Artist
A small aside before we continue, we really are delighted to introduce the beautiful artwork of Marie Burke. To celebrate the launch of this new range we will showcase her collection strongly within the article. This allows you to see a completely coordinated look.
Marie is a Somerset artist who initially worked as a steel sculptor and changed her artistic direction after having children. Large sheets of metal and younger children are not practical. Marie started to focus on a painting she works with more realistic depictions and studies of nature. She collaborated with Voyage Maison who helped turn the artwork into fabrics for soft furnishings. This exclusive collection can be viewed and bought in our Somerset store in the heart of the market town of Taunton as well as our online store.

We at LightingCompany.co.uk are delighted to launch the collection and proud as punch to be working with Marie Burkes designs.

2. Wall Decor
Consider using wall decor accents like tapestries or wall hangings to add a layer of texture and interest to your walls. Tapestries come in a huge range of sizes, colours and styles, from traditional designs to modern abstracts. Wall hangings are an easy way to make blank walls come alive with visual appeal.
Look for unique finds to dress your walls or use bold patterns for an eye-catching piece that stands out from the crowd. Of course, you can paint and paper your walls too but a fabulous framed print brings instant impact and it’s an easy update.

3. Illuminating Lamps
Lamps are a great way to make a statement in any space, whether it’s your bedroom, living room or hallway. Look to echo the soft furnishings within the space by choosing lampshades from the same pallet. If this is a little too busy, maybe focus on the lamp base’s unique shapes and materials such as ceramic or gold-finished metal that will add an interesting visual accent to your home decor. Opt for table lamps with detailed bases and style with a natural shade. There’s also a move towards customising novelty designs of table lamps like animals and whimsey characters to create an inviting atmosphere, they’ll normally have plain shades, however, choosing a patterned shade in the same fabric as your cushions makes the look completely unique to you.
Voyage Maison and Marie Burke Collaboration allow you to select a lamp that matches cushions, throws and more.
4. Rugs, Mats and Carpets.
Now that you have some good accent pieces for your decor ground the scheme with a good rug.
Rugs, mats and carpets also offer an eye-catching addition to your home decor. Whether you’re looking for something vintage or modern, these statement pieces will instantly upscale any room. Choose from recycled or sustainable be that traditional or modern. It makes sense to opt for floor rugs that can stand the test of time and are slightly more neutral. I’d suggest rugs for texture rather than colour texture helps to finish off your desired style. If you are after texture a jute rug would be a good choice.

5. Upholstered Furniture Pieces.
Upholstered furniture adds comfort and a touch of elegance and glamour to any setting.
Accent chairs or footstools in eye-catching patterns work well against a plain sofa or suite.
If you want a stand-out footstool this extra-large round shape is a show stopper. There’s a fabulous room divider in the same bold floral pattern which is useful to hide clutter behind. Nothing spoils a room more than clutter or toys. A room divider is an attractive way to disguise mess don’t you think? The divider can be used to break up a larger room, making them feel cosier.
Armchairs, ottomans, pouffes and sofa cushions are some of the pieces that can be easily coordinated to create your own unique statement look in any room.

6. Plants and Flowers
Floral Touches can inject a little vibrancy or a pop of colour to balance out the look. Don’t underestimate what a single bloom can do for the decor.
For maximum impact, a faux bouquet is blooming lovely.
If you don’t feel confident enough to create a floral display then bring in some greenery. The tiniest faux plant can set off a shelf perfectly. There’s a massive revival of houseplants being used within home decor. Just a supermarket indoor plant placed in an unusual pot has the hallmark of successful decor when personalised. Changing things up a little means it becomes more you! Your combinations of soft furnishing and the finishing touches you bring into the space make it unique. So be a little braver, it will pay off.
