As we get older we need more light to read and opticians recommend having a good general all round light plus suitable directional task lighting. The task or reading light can be provided by having an adjustable table lamp or floor lamp. We also have a good choice of craft lights which give good directional light for needlework, knitting and other close work.
Choosing a good light for reading in bed requires a bit of thought. A bedside table light with an adjustable swivel head or a separate reading arm or an over the bed reading light mounted on the wall with a separate flexible LED reading arm are two of the most common options.
Some reading lights are purely functional whilst others are also decorative and there are both modern and traditional table lamps and floor lamps suitable for reading and craft work that will fit well in most rooms.
