Electrical Warranty

Electrical Warranty

GUARANTEES & ELECTRICAL WARRANTY

Our light fittings have a minimum 2 year electrical warranty or guarantee that applies from the date of purchase giving you peace of mind that should the light fail it would be repaired or replaced free of charge. The Lighting Company Group warranty is applicable in conjunction with and not in addition to the manufacturer guarantee.

Proof of Purchase

As we only cover lights that we have supplied you must initially provide a proof of purchase. If you purchased online we can normally find the details of the transaction with your order number, or postcode. If however you purchase was in our store we may not have records of your details in that case you will need to provide a till receipt or a bank statement showing the transaction.

What’s covered under electrical warranty?

Light fittings including plug in lamps are all covered for the electrical parts however lighting is not covered for normal wear and tear and does not cover accidental damage or where lights have been mis-used or adapted. Shortening cable at installation is permitted if we say it’s safe to do so on the fitting instructions.

What’s not covered under warranty?

Light bulbs are not covered by this guarantee unless we state there is a manufacturers’ guarantee.

Additionally, the electrical warranty guarantees do not apply to the finish or corrosion of outdoor light fittings installed in salty or acidic conditions if they are fitted within 5 miles of the coast.

The exception is where lights are rated for coastal use and they have been specifically designed to be used in harsh conditions when they are supplied with separate guarantees by the manufacturer; details will be shown in our individual product information.

Electrical warranty does not cover breakages, accidental damage or misuse of the product.

What do I do if my light stops working?

In the unlikely event that your light fitting develops a fault within the warranty period dates, please contact us via email sales@lightingcompany.co.uk

Tell us what the problem is?

We will require you to give us a description of the fault you’ve identified. We may ask for a photograph or video evidence to show us an example of what happens. This will often help us to find the quickest most effective solution.

Next step, Troubleshooting.

Often perceived faults, maybe inadvertently be caused when your lighting set up is changed, this can happen overtime. For example installing a dimmer to a circuit or replacing light bulbs. Little changes may have implications on the light fitting or light bulbs. We will seek to establish if such an incident has happened, we will troubleshoot and provide advice to help you solve this yourself if this is possible.

We want to ensure you are not returning a light if there is no need.

Please note: We ask that at this time you are patient with the team as they are seeking to help you. We appreciate that sometimes questions may seem unrelated or irrelevant, but please answer them as they may be important.

If we can supply a part or component which may resolve the issue quickly we will discuss this with you.

What happens next?

Once the troubleshooting phase is complete, this is normally very quick, we will ask that the light is returned for testing to establish if the fault is an electrical fault.

Until a fault is established the electrical warranty, repair or replace conditions, cannot be activated. Testing must take place before solutions can be established.

Do you pay the cost of the returned parcel?

Initially you pay to return the item, if however a fault is established we’d refund up to £8 to reimburse you that expense. We do find some couriers such as the post office charge more. For that reason we strongly suggest you use a courier comparison site for this. Parcel2go or Parcel Monkey, customers tell us are very useful, it maybe worth a look to save you overpaying for courier services? We cannot collect the lights this is not a service we provide. The lights remain for property and in your care we are not liable for any loss or damage whilst lights are in transport by your chosen courier.

How Long does testing take to establish a fault?

This can take a little time depending on the nature of the fault. If for example the light simply doesn’t light we can see this fairly quickly and seek to identify a solution. However, if the nature of the fault is the light is fine for a week and then won’t switch on? We have to replicate that situation, so it stands to reason testing may take a little longer.

When testing is complete what’s next?

There will be one of two results, either a fault is found or it is not?

If a fault is established:

We will, if possible repair the light as soon as testing is complete.  If a repair is not possible we will replace the light for the same item. The repaired or new light will be sent to you free of charge.

If the item is no longer in our range, if for example it has been discontinued or withdrawn from sale then we will offer an alternative product.

Refunds will not be given in any circumstance.

If no fault is established:

If the light does not test faulty we will let you know. You can arrange to collect the light and no replacement will be offered.

Do you pay for the electrician?

We do not pay for an electrician to remove or refit any lights even if a fault is established. The lighting Company does not provide an installation service and as such we cannot be liable for costs you incur from 3rd party providers.  Our duty is to repair or replace the light fitting under the electrical warranty conditions. You must pay your electrician.
