The majority of us start our home decorating with a colour choice to make. Tester pot swatches are the right of passage most paint colours face as we try out our perfect paint colours in patches before committing to what will become a long term relationship. When you see our edited colour inspirations you’ll see it’s not so difficult to choose the latest look for your home.

We are fans of rose soft pinks. The pinks that are barely there are best and don’t rob you of light, they allow a room to gently captivate and maximise the sense of space within a room. This colour compliments a host of other colours which still offers you the options of creating a varied look as seasons change. That’s a good choice as it allows you to change with the seasons and you’ll never tire of a look that can be changed and customised to suit. A few combo’s that we’d recommend is pale stone, soft or slate grey colourations teamed with delicate sugar almond coloured pink. It’s beach like and blissfully restful. Adding pinks and other soft tone pastels such as pale green, soft lemon, delicate blue or ever popular pointing or putty changes the scheme from restful to playful. It’s as tempting as a tray of macaroons, we’d suggest this has a retro vibe that’s youthful and engaging. The image below shows a very modern look, simple, stylish and sharp. You’ll note that the clock demonstrates just how many colours sit harmoniously with pink. Team pale skin tone pinks with richer warmer pinks and warm wine colours as you head towards winter months. The ultimate favourite for a luxe look (and a personal favourite) is a fresh white and embellish with modern gold trim. Bands or strips of gold really lifts and enlivens this subtly sophisticated pallet. But pink really does make a perfect partner to many looks. If luxe is not for you, worry not, pale pink looks equally good with rustic washed wood, pale weathered stone or shabby chic creams giving a laid back and understated look that’s just perfect for relaxing spaces.

Girls bedrooms can be treated to a pink blush bedspread and while perfectly pleasant it’s no use using the sophisticated colour as predictably as your grandma would, no offence Granny but we’re taking it up a notch. Pink is used as a base or foil for a room, not simply a freshen up it’s a backdrop to showcase metallics and crystals. Feminine sometimes, flirty often, but it’s used to soften and relax a room. It’s also a break from the boring mundane, we see pink promoted to living rooms and not simply confined to the back bedroom. Perfectly at harmony it’s a welcome addition to both modern and traditional settings. Let’s dive in and see how pale pink adds a rosy glow in a spa like bathroom.

You’ll see a modern stark room is softer and more playful with the addition of this little tripod lamp and pretty pink graduated shade. Below that a gold lamp rests upon a pink book that little tiny rose coloured book brings a livelier look to the subject.
