Our latest interior inspiration is one that will appeal to your playful and adventurous side. ‘Beyond Convention’ quite literally means an alternative and innovative flair to contest with conventional form and function – to go against the normal standard. For this design, we encourage you to have fun and play with scale, use optical illusions to create bold and unique features. Easily created in large rooms, we can also help you to incorporate into smaller rooms using unique shaped lamps and varied patterns and textures.
As is often said, variety is the spice of life and whilst breaking a routine is can often be difficult and sometimes daunting, the rewards can be extremely refreshing. Don’t be afraid to be unique with your choices for interior furnishing, putting together different sizes and shapes gives you a different view to your room. Give it a stark appearance by pairing contrasting patterns and textures, anything that breaks the expected adds excitement and makes an interesting interior.
As we know, evolution and trends are forever moving forward, but in the 21st Century, more than ever before, we are choosing to be more individualistic with our lifestyle choices and this is the perfect look to portray this in your home. The best thing about this look, is that you can’t get it wrong! The rules are simple: Have fun, use what appeals to you and don’t be scared to try new things.
The 3 light ceiling light above is an unusual design that lets you play with shapes and angles, perfect for steering away from convention. Opting for something along these lines rather than the traditional flush or semi flush ceiling light gives you that “wow” factor that makes this design stand out. Think big! Something bold that gives an impact, particularly in a large room, draws the eye – it’s unusual so it gets the attention.
Try pairing a contrasting table or floor lamp with bold shapes and structures. Chosen a linear shaped ceiling light? Go for a globed shaped table or floor lamp! Pick the unexpected, seeing something “out of theme” gives that sense of excitement and keeps the room feeling interesting. Like it could change character again at any time. Something that always fascinates us is optical illusions, they make us question their existence – Beyond Convention follows this ideology. Play with shapes and textures, juxtapose designs, pair linear with curved and rough with smooth to create a dynamic contrast.
Thankfully due to the ever growing technology that is LED there are more extravagant designs made possible. With far smaller bulbs which can be integrated into the fittings and produce little heat the more unique the shape of the structure can be. Not having to take into account where the bulbs will be placed or having to think about how close certain materials are to the bulbs gives far more freedom to the designers. LED strips allow fittings to have a constant flow of light around the entire fitting, this is great for contemporary designs and it also makes for a wider variety of shapes available.
