Convenience, functionality and great aesthetic blend together seamlessly to offer us a useful versatility for our multi-functional spaces. We’re looking at adjustable fittings in particular here, ones that can change easily to suit your requirements and achieve your desired look, each and every time. It’s certainly a trend that has caught on and is a common sight in living rooms, bedrooms and home offices alike, but most other rooms will also benefit. There’s no limit to where functionality and convenience is appreciated throughout the home.
Our homes can sometimes become a bit more cluttered than we would like and finding another clear space for new lights and keepsakes can be increasingly difficult. Fortunately, many of the products we feature throughout this inspiration are excellent space savers, which is just one more reason why we love them. From wall attached functional lighting to a small clip on desk spot, these are simple to implement and assist you to undertake variety of tasks.
For example, we have a large range of adjustable wall lights that are perfect for multipurpose lighting without the need to compromise on your desk space. Fixing to a wall and allowing you to swing the light source over or toward your work space is an essential convenience for the home office and gives you maximum desk space for other necessities. For those without an option for wall lighting there are also desk clip-able lights which have the same space saving effect but all the standard function as a desk lamp, simply clip on to the desk or a nearby shelf and direct where you need it! Both of these options are great at ensuring that you can adjust the light levels depending on what is happening to the natural light outside your window, which will help to ensure that you prevent any eye strain. These are also great for when a desk is used as an alternative space at times, for example, reading, sorting out the bills or even a dressing table!
Some of us will ensure that we do have the space for a desk or bedside lamp, to most people a lamp is a priority and it has its place reserved – and so it should! We all tend to use our rooms for more than one function. If you team this with dimmable bulbs and a switch, you have one of the most adjustable forms of lighting available and can change the ambience in a heartbeat. Another useful light that we would recommend for bedrooms, home offices but especially living rooms is an adjustable floor lamp. These are fantastic placed by sofas and chairs and will allow you to select ambient light or a more targeted reading light for your newspaper or magazine simply by tilting the shade. There are also some that are height adjustable which are great if you want a floor lamp but have low or sloping ceilings. If you really want to go the whole nine yards, you could also consider a mother and child lamp which offers an ambient glow with an adjustable reading light. Many come with independent switches so you can choose to have just one or both. Some also come with dimmer switches to help control the ambience – and to really wow your guests, some are available with integral colour changing LED’s!
