Integrated LED Lighting; Aerial Acrobatics

A new breed of lighting begins! Ultra-modern LED technology has vastly broadened the variety of lighting available and for the first time, lights are recognised as more than simply a light source. Now, more than ever, they are eye-catching structures where often the light source and aforementioned structure are inextricably one.

Acrobatic artistry of illumination, freed and unfettered by the past restrictions of light bulbs, have the opportunity to embrace a variety of shapes. Liberating creativity designers have utilised, hexagon, round, square, curves and random shapes to form aerial patterns, creating abstract artworks that delight and intrigue.

With no more separate, bulky bulbs to accommodate somewhere within the fitment, instead the LED light source is integrated into the body of the light fitting. This fusion allows light fitments to be formatted into an aerial display of artworks, unrestricted by conforming to the stereotypical chandelier shapes.

The jump from the early, more primitive styles of light is a gigantic leap – hoopla!

If you’ve been reluctant to embrace new integral LED lighting, the latest designs are sure to tempt you into thinking again. Ultra-sleek LED lights are now integrated into the light fittings rather than retro fitted, which makes the look altogether more cohesive.

This style of light fitting looks contemporary and striking in homes but can also be grouped together to create larger and more impactful installations, ideal for befitting museums, hotels, and commercial foyers. There’s no limit to what can be achieved with minimal electrical consideration.

We understand that lighting is an investment, the crowning glory of our interior designs and as such, we realise that a key consideration when choosing your lights, is how long they will last for. Understandable, as we all want value for money! The las thing we’d want is to find our perfect light only for the brightness to be extinguished within a few years.

Fortunately, LEDs deliver unpararelled longevity compared to their antiquated counterparts and will generally last between 20-30 years with average use. And being honest, who really wants the same light fitting for in excess of a quarter of a century?

Often, understanding how much light you get from a light fitting can be difficult with LED. All LED’s are not created equal. We’ve no doubt you’ve heard the phrase ‘you get what you pay for’ and it’s never so true in the context of LEDs.

Wattages used to be the measure of light as well as being the amount of energy used. However, as LED give much more light whilst using much smaller amounts of electricity or wattage, we no longer use watts as a light output measurements.

The brightness you see now is called lumens. Lumens is simply the light emitted. A lack of understanding has perhaps led consumers to make the wrong choices, thus leaving some misplaced uncertainty around this new technology.
