Once upon a time every Grandma had a wood turned tall lamp complete with fringed shade, they also had a budgie and those crochet effect covers that hung on the back of a sofa. This look was so typically standard of an older person’s home, so twee and dated looking, that tall lamps fell out of fashion.
But big lamps are back! No, not the standard lamp, but unusual attention-grabbing floor lamps that ooze originality. If you need extra light in your home, you may well want to consider taking a look at the new look lamps. Stylish additions that bring light, bright, statements to living rooms and ‘posh-up’ bedrooms a treat.
There’s no need to have an old lamp sulking in the corner of the room. Let your style shine, have a floor lamp that can hold its head high. Modern standards, featuring luxury fabrics, clever use of tech teamed with uber creative designs.
Some of the standard lamps that are head and shoulders above the norm!
Organic & Wood
Modern tall lamps with wooden bases have been re imagined, playing with traditional forms of the standard they are lighter colour ways. There’s a focus on the stem which sees 3 legged tripod lamps, organic shapes, bleached wood shaped like driftwood or antlers taking pride of place in our living rooms once more.

Looking at Lighting from another angle
Offset lamps look very contemporary and are surprisingly ergonomic and practical. Allowing you to position the chair where the brightness of light is at its fullest. It’s also rather nice to break with the traditional shapes. We are loving the sculptural look.

LED Floor lamps
Technology reigns supreme! LED has allowed designers to totally re-think what a floor lamp is used for. Yes, we need them to light the room but also do we need a lampshade at all?

Shape Shifters
We’re also seeing floor lamps be more than just a floor lamp! Without wishing to sound like an advert for M&S food, this is not just a floor lamp it’s a table floor lamp!
This is not just a floor lamp it’s a table, a phone charger and a lamp!
This is not just a floor lamp it’s also a plant stand.
