A wall Sconce teamed with Pretty Wallpaper is the perfect look.
A wall sconce is an attractive lighting fixture that’s often used as a decorative accent piece. It’s known as a wall light as it’s fitted to the wall as opposed to a ceiling light. There’s infinite styles to choose from. Choosing the perfect wall lamp depends largely on what style of decoration you have and the lighting effect that you most pleasing to your eye. At The Lighting Company we’ve make it easy to pair the perfect combination of wall coverings and illumination to give your rooms a fresh new look.
Wall Dressing is Art
Laura Ashley wall lights have a delicate romantic style that never dates. When teamed with the Laura Ashley wallpapers, you can see a cohesive and elegant style emerge. What’s even more pleasing, is that you can complete the look with wall art from the same collection. Teaming pictures, framed prints or sculptural art that echoes the theme will have your friends and family thinking of you as ‘the’ interior designer.

Picture Lights– Spot on lighting
If you want to really let your art work shine why not consider highlighting it with a picture light. Specifically designed picture lights angle light towards the picture whilst eliminating glare into the room. The depth and interest gained from adding illumination to your wall decor takes your sense of style to a whole new level.

Wall Sconce Chandelier Lights
If you’re looking for something more traditional, consider adding a chandelier style wall light to your home. These fixtures are usually made with crystal glass and feature upward pointing bulbs to mimic a candle. They come in a variety of styles, and can be further enhanced with a lamp shade if desired. Delicate colours lampshades that echo the colour tones within your wallpaper make the whole look soft and sophisticated.

Wall Sconce Without Lampshades
A wall sconce without a shade is a simple yet elegant addition to any room. Light is unrestricted and allowed to skim over the surface of the wall. This really allows the details of your wall covering to shine. The effect of an ambient glow of light across a metallic wall paper is glorious.
We also adore pictorial scenes on wall surfaces. Hugely popular for 2023 are birds in flight. These exotic cranes across a dark moody blue sky is just dreamy.

Why not go a step further and paint your ceiling a paler shade of the main colour, or indeed an accent colour? This creates a really immersive design that cocoons you in it’s entireity.
If you long to decorate your walls with a mural but your wall light disturbs the scene, why not switch the light for a paintable wall light? You can then blend the light into the background colour. It’s a nice idea as you get a to see details within the paper when is lit with a soft glow in the evenings but by day you don’t notice the wall lamp as it’s camouflaged by colour.
Laura Ashley paints are available in co-ordinating colourways to make the job easier.
Wall Sconce without Wiring
If you’re looking for a wall light option, but can’t add wiring, to your decor, worry not, we’ve got you! The solution is to consider adding a plug in wall light instead. They come in a variety of styles, so there’s sure to be one that will match your décor perfectly.
Here’s one I made earlier. Finnley Wall Light. This wall light design is one of my favourites, of course. I designed it. Knowing decor changes I’ve specified this lamp to be changeable, that way you can make your wall light co-ordinate with every style of decor you have now or in the future.

If you’ve read to this point and wondered what the difference is between a wall light and a wall sconce, let me enlighten you. Any wall light fixing can be described as a wall sconce, a wall light or wall lamp – it’s all varying language for a fixture that gives illumination that’s fixed to a wall surface. Having said that, a subtle difference is a sconce has a more classic elegance and a timeless quality. So I guess it’s a more specific descriptive word for a wall light that has a timeless appeal.
Bedding and Cushions
Bedding and cushions are another way of decorating your rooms. This method is overlooked most of the time but it is such a crucial method. Your bed is usually the centrepiece of your room so making it stand out is important. Also adding soft furnishing to your rooms helps break up the colour scheme and compliments your wallpaper or paints.
Laura Ashley has a range of romantic bedding and pillows that match their wallpapers and paints. Adding this to your room helps bring it all together.
