Looking to buy Laura Ashley Lighting?
With many of our favourite UK brands disappearing, we seem to be losing too much of our history and ‘go-to’ places, to buy those special items for our homes. Of course, some brands have not moved with the times. But when an iconic brand such as Laura Ashley has become a victim of our shifting shopping habits, someone needs to act. Under license, the intellectual property has been saved (by Gordon Brothers) and working with select specialist retailers, who are in tune with the consumer behaviours of today, they are bringing a fabulous new offer.
Modern retailers bring expertise and specialist knowledge; in the case of lighting, this is obviously a necessity. Furthermore, presenting the ranges to match how consumers actually shop will open up the heritage to a whole new audience. The future is bright for Laura Ashley Lighting!

To the uninitiated, cottage gore is an aesthetic that taps into a romantic view of country living, not simply the looks but a lifestyle. The History of Laura Ashley
When you think of Laura Ashley, you tend to imagine home furnishings such as fashionable wallpapers and luxury pillows with iconic floral prints. But what do we know of the woman behind the brand of Laura Ashley?
Born in 1925, Laura spent most of her youth surrounded by the beautiful, Welsh countryside. When she left school, she served in the Women’s Royal Naval Service for three years, where she met her husband.
In 1945, she started working as a secretary for the Women’s Institute which sparked her idea for design.
A thoroughly modern woman for the era, Laura continued her work whilst raising her first two children. During this time, she was tasked with researching and developing quilting on behalf of the WI.
Relearning a craft previously enjoyed with her Grandmother, designs started to flow for headscarves, tableware and tea towels.
Inspired by the WI display of traditional craft wares at the Victoria and Albert Museum, she began searching for printed Victorian inspired fabrics and found a lack in offering. An opportunity beckoned!
Printing her own fabrics on a machine that her husband had designed, the company was born.
Initial success was won in the form of mail order (a now antiquated version of shopping from home!) before she opened her first shop in Wales. This was the first of many shops and the start of the success that we all know today.
Her range expanded and eventually, lighting designed by Laura Ashley was born!
