Table Lamps with Retro Style
Have you just moved house or decorated and found that whilst your space feels lovely fresh and new it’s somehow lost a bit of it’s charm?
I’ve recently moved home and can empathise with this. The good news is new homes have all the bone structure and small additions can have a huge impact. It’s true of most newer homes, initially before you put your own stamp on it, it’s just too plain. With this in mind I’d like to suggest a few table lamps that not only bring illumination and ambience, but also make a stylish statement
Mid-century table lamps are perfect for new homes bring a stylish statement.
Bring a pop of instant personality with a vibrant colour, add a cushion or accessory and hey presto you have a bold new look.
This beautiful monochrome pallet elevens a space without brining too much colour leaving you free to add other colours at a later date. Black touches help bring the blackness of a big telly into the scheme too. Never underestimate how dominant a telly can be. Rather than working against it use the black or an Inky blue black as an accent.

Use different surface finishes to bring a little dynamism. Perhaps a lamp with gloss finish against a matt wall is great as are textured details. On a sideboard, it’s more on trend to go asymmetrical rather than have 2 matching lamps have one larger lamp and balance with interesting ornament or plant at the other end. Or why not mix materials? This offers an instant lift to flatly painted rooms and brings a depth. Marble effects add a mid century luxury, which is so sharp it oozes class.

If you have lots of wood it’s great to use ceramics lamps with earthy colours or textures. Go natural green earthy brown or a burnt orange to pep it up the retro feel.
One of the most popular colour pallets for this season is Navy & Teals – practically all blue hues are trending. With darker colours, bring a balance and contrast by adding golds. If you have a particularly large space mix in a few styles of lamps in similar colour combo’s when you are buying feature lamps avoid having too many of exactly the same as it can look a bit contrived. Personally, I love having some where the light escapes the shade in different directions up lighting some area’s and down lighting others. Dome shade lamps are perfect for this keeping light down at a lower level creates those little moody moments and a lovely relaxing ambience.
If Mid century is not for you, you can still be inspired by the colour combination. It’s very exciting and exotic.

Take a walk on the wild side!

Oh my now, we see your personality, that new home has your stamp, you crazy cat.
