Lighting for bedrooms, hotel and guest house bedrooms needs to cater for different activities. Dark or very low level lighting is needed for sleeping whilst you will need good light levels for dressing and make-up.
Dimmable lighting is good as level of light can be controlled. Easy fit light shades are useful for spare bedrooms and background lighting can be provided by wall lights, wall panel lights or inexpensive paintable ceramic wall lights.
Bright direct lighting will be needed over dressing tables to give light for applying make-up and good task lighting such as desk lamps will be needed for any computer or study area within the bedroom. Any sitting areas will need softer lighting which can be provided by table lamps or a floor lamp.

Other considerations are lights for built in wardrobes or lighting for dressing rooms which should be bright enough for purpose and separately switched.
